Using the Vibe-Code Agent in Open WebUI

September 14, 2026 ·

Every server ships with Open WebUI and a single AI model called the Vibe-code agent. This guide gets you from the welcome email to a useful first session.

Logging in

Your welcome email lists an Open WebUI link (port 3000 on your server’s IP) plus the email and password to sign in with. Use them exactly as given — the login email is your billing address.

The locked model picker

You will notice the model selector shows only vibe-code agent and cannot be changed. That is deliberate: the chat is pre-wired to the agent configuration, so there is nothing to set up and nothing to break. The agent behind it uses the vendor and key you provided at setup.

What the agent can do

It runs on the same machine as your app, so it can read files and configuration, run commands, write scripts, restart services, and explain what it finds. It is an operator with a chat interface, not just a text generator.

Good first prompts

  • “Give me a tour of this server: what apps are running and how much disk is left?”
  • “In the CRM, create a sales pipeline with the stages we discussed and show me where to find it.”
  • “Set up a daily backup export of the database to a folder I can download.”
  • “The app feels slow — check memory and logs and tell me what you find.”

Working safely

The agent acts with real permissions. Ask it to explain a change before applying it (“show me the command first”), and keep your own backups for destructive operations. It will not touch anything outside your server: each machine is isolated from every other customer.

If the agent stops answering

That almost always means an API key problem — expired balance or a revoked key. Generate a new key at your provider and update it on the agent’s settings page, which your welcome email links to.
