10 Ways to Vibe-Code iDempiere on Your Server

October 4, 2026 ·

Your iDempiere server runs ERP, CRM, and supply chain on hardware you control. In the Open WebUI chat, the vibe-code agent can read its configuration, query the PostgreSQL database behind it, run scripts, and restart the service. You describe the job in plain language, and it does the work while telling you what it changed.

These ten jobs are the ones most owners end up doing every week. None of them need an outside consultant.

1. Get an aged receivables snapshot

Collections starts with a clear list of who owes what and how overdue it is. iDempiere stores every open invoice in C_Invoice, and the agent can join it to payments and due dates to build proper aging buckets. Ask: “Show me every open customer invoice as of today, bucket the balances by 0-30, 31-60, 61-90, and over 90 days past due, and email me a CSV.” The agent runs the SQL, checks the totals against the open balance, and hands you a spreadsheet you can act on. If a customer looks wrong, ask it to drill into that one account.

2. Track down one sales order

“Where is my order?” is a daily question in any company running iDempiere. A sales order travels through allocation, shipment, and invoicing, and each step lives in a different table. The agent can follow it end to end. Type: “Sales order 50012 was promised last week. Tell me if it’s allocated, shipped, or invoiced, and what’s blocking it.” It will check M_InOut for the shipment and C_Invoice for the billing, then tell you the real status in one paragraph instead of three screens.

3. Sweep documents that failed to post

iDempiere posts every completed document to the general ledger, and when posting fails the document sits half-finished with an error nobody reads. Left alone, these pile up and distort your reports. Ask the agent: “Find every invoice, payment, and GL journal from the last 7 days that completed but didn’t post, try to post them, and list the ones that still fail with the error reason.” It will find the posted=’N’ records, attempt the repost, and report which ones need real attention, like a missing account combination.

4. Clean out draft clutter

Every ERP accumulates junk: half-entered orders, abandoned quotes, invoices someone opened and forgot. These pollute search results and confuse reports. The agent can find them without touching anything real. Try: “List sales orders, invoices, and shipments stuck in Drafted status for more than 90 days, grouped by salesperson, and void the ones I mark.” It produces the list first; you pick; then it voids the chosen documents and confirms each one so nothing disappears silently.

5. Import a new price list version

Price changes usually arrive as a spreadsheet from a supplier or a sales meeting. Manually typing them into price list lines is slow and error-prone. iDempiere supports versioned price lists, so the old prices stay auditable. Say: “Take this supplier CSV and load it into the purchase price list as a new version effective Monday. Keep the current version untouched, and show me ten rows before and after.” The agent stages the data, shows you a sample for sign-off, then commits the version and sets the valid-from date.

6. Get a reorder-point report in plain words

Stock-outs and overstock both cost money, and the answer is already in the system: on-hand quantities per warehouse against reorder points, plus recent demand. Ask: “Show me every product below its reorder point in any warehouse, and suggest a purchase quantity based on the last 90 days of sales velocity.” The agent queries M_Product, storage records, and order history, then gives you a table with suggested quantities you can hand to purchasing. It will also flag products that haven’t sold at all in six months.

7. Find duplicate business partners

Years of data entry create duplicate customers and vendors, and duplicates split your sales history and statements. Merging in iDempiere is a deliberate process, so the agent should propose, not execute. Type: “Find business partners that look like duplicates by tax ID, name similarity, and shared addresses, but don’t merge anything. Give me a list to approve.” It will rank the candidates with the evidence for each pair. Once you approve a pair, it runs the merge and verifies that old invoices still point at the surviving record.

8. Email last month’s invoices in one go

Sending invoices one by one from the web UI is fine for five invoices and miserable for fifty. The agent can generate the PDFs in bulk and send them with a consistent message. Ask: “Generate PDFs for all completed AR invoices from last month that haven’t been sent yet and email them to each customer’s invoice contact with a short payment reminder.” It uses the standard print format, records that they went out, and reports any customers missing a valid email address so you can fix the record.

9. Set up a new user the right way

A new hire needs a user, a role, org access, a default warehouse, and often a warehouse-specific restriction or two. It’s five screens of admin work, or one sentence: “Create a login for maria@acme.com with the Sales role, HQ organization, Main warehouse as default, and email her a temporary password that must be changed at first login.” The agent creates the AD_User record, assigns the role and org access, and confirms the email server accepted the message before reporting back.

10. Decode a log error

When an invoice won’t complete or a window throws an exception, the real story is in the server log, which most owners never open. Now you don’t have to. Say: “Completing an invoice gave me an error around 10:15 this morning. Find the stack trace in the log and explain in plain English what failed.” The agent greps the log, finds the trace, maps it to the failing code path (often a missing account mapping or a null field), and tells you both the cause and the fix, applying it if you agree.

None of these take more than a few minutes with the agent, and every one leaves an audit trail you can check. Start with the job that eats your week, and let the agent earn trust from there.
