Single jobs are useful; chains of steps are where the hours come from. Pimcore ships with a workflow engine, a scheduler, console commands, and the Data Importer, and your vibe-code agent can wire them together so the catalog keeps itself current. Here are ten automations worth building on your OpenSysLab server.
1. Nightly supplier catalog sync
Most suppliers publish a feed, and your catalog is stale the day you stop importing it. The agent can schedule a cron job that runs your Data Importer configuration against the feed, updates objects by SKU, and emails you a summary of created, updated, and failed rows. Try: “Every night at 02:30 pull https://supplier.example.com/feed.csv, run it through my import config, email me a summary, and if it fails twice in a row pause the job and tell me why.” It also checks the error log when something breaks, instead of you finding out from a customer.
2. Product onboarding with approvals
New products should not go straight to the storefront. Pimcore’s workflow engine moves objects through places like Draft, In Review, and Approved, and each transition can add notes and send mail. The agent can configure the whole state machine around your existing status field. Try: “Set up a workflow for the Product class: imported products land in Draft, the merchandiser moves them to In Review, only I can approve to Published, and every transition emails the team.” You get an audit trail of who changed what and when, for free. The workflow definition lives in your project config, so the agent can show you the exact file it wrote and adjust the states later without reworking data.
3. Translation round-trip pipeline
Keeping five languages in sync is a logistics problem, not a translation problem. A scheduled job can compare localized fields against the last export, write an XLIFF package for exactly what changed, and drop it in a folder the agency can reach. When the translated files come back, the same job imports them and logs coverage. Try: “Each Friday, export an XLIFF of every product whose German or French text changed since the last export into /srv/translations and email the agency that it is ready.” No more paying to retranslate unchanged paragraphs.
4. Storefront sync over Data Hub GraphQL
If your shop reads from Pimcore, Data Hub gives it a GraphQL endpoint scoped to the fields and objects you choose. The agent can define the endpoint, restrict it to Approved products, generate an API key, and document the queries your shop developer needs. Try: “Create a Data Hub GraphQL endpoint that serves only Approved products with name, description, price, and gallery, protect it with an API key, and write down the exact query the shop should run.” Later, add a dirty flag: products re-published after a change get re-pulled that night.
5. Auto-link incoming images to products
Photographers and suppliers drop files named after SKUs into an inbound folder, and someone manually attaches each one to the right product. A small watch script can do that attachment for you and flag the stragglers. Try: “Watch /Inbound every hour: for every image whose filename starts with a SKU I have, attach it to that product’s gallery field, and list any files that matched nothing.” The unmatched list is your cue to chase the photographer, not to click through 300 products.
6. Price and stock sync from your ERP
If Pimcore is not your system of record for pricing, it needs to follow the ERP. The agent can schedule a pull from an SFTP drop or CSV, update price and stock on matching SKUs, keep a change log, and alert on anomalies. Try: “Pull prices.csv from our SFTP at 06:00, update price and stock on matching SKUs, log every change, and flag any product whose price moved more than 20 percent.” A sudden zero-stock on your bestseller reaches you before the storefront shows it. Because price is a quantity value, the units stay consistent even when the ERP mixes per-piece and per-box pricing.
7. Datasheet PDF generation on approval
Pimcore’s web-to-print renders documents from your data objects, which makes it perfect for product datasheets. The agent can build a one-page print layout and trigger regeneration automatically when a product is approved or its spec fields change. Try: “When a product moves to Approved, render a one-page PDF datasheet from its data into the product’s asset folder, and regenerate it whenever the spec fields change.” Sales always has the current sheet, and nobody exports PDFs by hand the night before a trade fair.
8. Asset compliance gate before publishing
A channel-ready image needs more than pixels: copyright holder, license, alt text, and enough resolution. A workflow on assets can enforce all of that by refusing the transition to Channel-ready until the metadata checks pass. Try: “Add an approval step for assets: nothing moves to Channel-ready unless copyright, alt text, and a 1200px minimum width are present, and email the uploader a list of what is missing.” Legal exposure drops, and uploaders learn the rules from the feedback instead of a wiki page.
9. Marketplace feed exports on a schedule
Marketplaces want their own columns, often mapped from classification store attributes you already maintain. The agent can build a recurring job that assembles the flat file from your PIM data, exports only products flagged for that channel, and drops the result on SFTP. Try: “Every Monday, build an Amazon-ready CSV from the classification store attributes for products flagged ‘Amazon’, drop it on the SFTP, and email me the row count and any products skipped for missing attributes.” One clean source of truth, three marketplaces, zero manual exports.
10. Daily platform health digest
Pimcore runs on more than PHP: database, queue consumers, cron, disk, backups. The agent can script a morning check that reports green or red on each, restart what it safely can, and escalate the rest. Try: “Every morning at 07:00 check that last night’s import ran, the messenger consumers are alive, disk is under 80 percent, and last night’s backup exists, then email me a green-or-red digest.” Add “restart the consumers if they are down” once you have seen a few clean days. You read one email instead of five dashboards.
Pick the one that hurts most this week and ask for it by name. The agent will show its work as it goes. Your Pimcore server is on Pimcore on OpenSysLab.
